Children’s first visit to the dentist should be booked as early as before the First Birthday.

Brushing a baby’s teeth is an important parental responsibility. Parents should start brushing as soon as the first tooth appears, using a baby toothbrush with a tiny smear of fluoride toothpaste without rinsing.

From 6 months onward you should register your child with a dentist and book an appointment within 6 months from the appearance of first tooth.

The first time at the Dentist, you want to sit on the chair and have your baby on your lap. The Dentist might or might not have fun tools for children, but

either way, they will enjoy the light, holding a tool in their hands.

Continue to brush your child’s teeth twice a day and make it fun by allowing them to use a mirror they can look into, brushing at the same time with them, making sounds such as ‘Aaaaa’ and if you wish provide them a tooth sticker every time they brush their teeth.

The electric toothbrush is made for children from the age of 3, but as my doctor advised, if your child is nearly 2 years old you can allow him to have his own brush head for your toothbrush and test if he likes the feel of the vibrations or the sound.

Most people are scared to go to the dentist, but brushing your teeth regularly twice a day for minimum 2 minutes, it should help you avoid having decay and start the dental work early. Use a kids toothbrush timer.

Make it fun for your kid and if they want to brush their teeth 10 times in a day, be happy as fun will make them create a routine for life.
